Product Brief
The HeiCon Contactless Continuous Level Measurement System delivers accurate, non-invasive monitoring of liquid or solid material levels in industrial vessels using advanced gamma radiation technology. With versatile integration, robust construction, and exceptional reliability, HeiCon ensures precise process control even in challenging or hazardous environments
Product
Description
HeiCon’s innovative level measurement solution utilizes gamma radiation to determine the exact fill level within closed tanks—without physical contact with the contents. The system consists of a sealed radioactive source and a sensitive scintillation detector installed externally, negating exposure to the process medium and providing maintenance-free operation.
The included HEICON 21 evaluation unit ensures signal accuracy by performing advanced linearization and calibration, further supported by digital communication options such as PROFIBUS DP and a 4–20 mA analog output

Product
Applications
Ideal for monitoring slurry, ore, or powder levels in silos, hoppers, and reactors, even in dusty or abrasive environments
For accurate monitoring of chemical tank levels, especially in corrosive or hazardous environments where intrusion is not possible.
Used for continuous level measurement in storage tanks, separators, or pipelines handling volatile, pressurized, or toxic materials.
Monitors ash, coal, or coolant levels in tanks and silos within power plants, handling extreme temperatures and challenging media
Ensures hygienic level monitoring in storage tanks containing liquids or bulk solids, preventing contamination due to non-contact measurement.
Maintains precise control of ingredient levels in reactors and storage vessels where cleanliness and accuracy are paramount
Key
benefits
No process penetration or contamination risk; all components remain outside the vessel.
Provides a continuous signal for real-time level tracking, adjustable for multiple vessel sizes up to 2 meters.
Detectors are built with robust, IP68+ stainless steel enclosures and require minimal servicing
Automatic linearization and calibration ensure precise results and compensate for vessel geometry or material changes
Interfaces with PLCs and modern control systems; supports relay outputs, alarms, and standard industrial protocols
Radiation sources are double-housed and rigorously tested for compliance with international safety regulations
Installation
Types
-
External mounting: Both the radiation source and detector are installed outside the vessel, permitting operation without intrusive fittings.
-
Flexible layout: Detectors can be assembled in sections for large or difficult-access tanks; connection distance up to 500 meters possible.
-
Shielded source: Multiple shielding options, including remotely operated push or rotating shutter mechanisms for access safety.

Why Choose Our Continuous Level Measurement System?
The system emits a narrow gamma ray beam through the vessel from one side to a detector on the opposite side. Material inside the vessel absorbs a portion of the radiation; the level is inferred from the intensity drop detected
